The House Appropriations Conmiittee has approved a' fuiidt* -of ^600,000. dollars to absorb eurreney exchan'ge losses sufl'ered by American enterprises :n lielping to tell people abroad about the United States. Mr. J." Noel Macy, who had asked for ^>,000,000 dollars, told tlie committee the fund would enable newspapers, magazines, motion pictures and book concerns, to meet the demand from foreign consumers whicn tliev could not do now because the foreign eurreney they received would not buv the paper for printing. That must be paid for in American dollars. He stressed the fact that the fund did not mean a prolit for these concerns but only the reimbursement of out of pocket expenses.
