Hotels Must Supply Public With Meals
INVERCARGILL, June . 3. "It is hoped there are not many licensees remiss on this matter but we ask that you gi-ve the required service in the question of meals," said Ihe chairman, Mr. R. C. Abernethy, S.M., at the annual meeting of the Wallace Licensing Committee, when a report was reecived that a Southland licensee had refused meals. The poliee report stated that there was no proof against the licensee. Mr. Abernethy remarked that there had been a number of eomplaints throughout New Zealand about hotel licensees not supplying meals ana there was a good'deal of public agitation. "You have a lieence and you should see that the public gets a fair run, " Mr. Abernethy said to the publicans present at the meeting. In a case where a person was not suppliea with a meal he should take -the proper course of laying . inforniation through the police, after which the matter could be thrashed out in Court, said Mr. Abernethy. He gave a warning that ii the Court entered a eonvietion, Licensing Committees would take a aerious view of the matter.
