Alore than £50, 000,000 has been autliorised in rehabilitation loans to ex-ser vicemen and women. The latest figures as at the end of April show that 02,255 appliciuits had ..iieen granted loans ■ unounting in value to £50,522,400. The total outiay on rehabilitation at the ;ame date was more than £07,000,000. During April, there were 1470 fresli authorisations totalling in value 21,101,481. With 78 farm loans in April, the total under that head was brought to 4794 valued at £19,001,348. This inchidcd 57S men' settled under the land settlement scheme. Another 257 ex-servicemen were granted loans to b.uild and 240- to purchase homes during April, the total value of these being £309,015 and £206,373 respeetivelv. r ■ Altogether at the end of April,. about 34;000 ex-servieeinen liad- received direct hotising assistance in some foriri th rough- the Rehabilitation Boa'rd. Apart from those included above is a considerable number of AJaori ex-ser-vicemen, wh.o haye been - , assisted throngh the Afaori rehabilitation finance committee and under ■ the Native Land and Housing Acts.
