Otaki School Committee's Meeting

The usual monthly meeting of the Otaki School Committee wgs held in Otaki on Tuesday night. There were present: Messrs. H. J. Taylor (chairman), W. Calwell, W. Wilson (secretary), L. G. Gimblett (treasurer), A. G. Kirkwood and the headmaster, Mr. J. E. James. Apologies were received from Messrs. H. B. Edhouse and A. Lumley. The headmaster reported that the attendance at the school had been fairly good during the first term. The roll numbers now ;Stood at 207 boys and 200 girls, mak'ing a total of 407. New enrolments at the beginning of the term totalled 12, while the average attendance for the past term had been 369. The general health of the children was goo'd. Milk was not being delivered at present. Consequent on the death of an old member of the committee, Mr.H. JM. J. Nicolson, nominations were called to fill the vacancy. Only one was received, that of Mr. C. Parrant and he was duly elected.
