Brass Bands' Association Revived
Last weekend delegates from Manawatu and surrounding district brass bands met in Palmerston North and as a result the Manawatu and District Brass,. Bands' Association was revived. Delegates were present from Dannevirke, Levin, Foxton, Marton, Masterton, Palmerston North and Feilding, while an apology was received from the Otaki Brass Band. Delegates reported steady progress in their representative organisations, and voiced the opinion that it would not be long before the status enjoyed by brass bands many years ago would once again be re-established. It was decided that an executive committee *be set up to control the affairs of the associauon, which will operate on the same lines as the national body— the N.Z. Brass Bands' Association. The election of officers was as follows:-— President: Mr. R. Belgrave, Palmerston North; secretary-treasurer; Mr. C. C. Banfi'eld, Levin; committee: Messrs. Guthrie (Palmerston North), Wilkinson (Foxton), Morgan (Marton), Lester (Levin), Gariick (Feilding) and Pearson (Masterton) . The date of the forthcoming contest was fixed for the weekend preceding Labour Day, Marton being the successful applicant for the venue of the contest.
