WELLINGTON. May 21. The general policy of the Immigradon Department was that persons who canie to the Dominion luicler the Government's immigraLion scheme remained in the jobs they had eontracted to do for two years. This comment was made today by an official of the department in reference to the Invercargill Press Assoeiation report of the discussion at a meeting of the Southland Hospital Board concem-j ing priority immigrants who had; iel't their nursing training to takej i.her jobs. The official added that" ih some ' cases, however, the settlers were i psychologically unsuited to the : type of work assigned to them. In these eireumstanees they were transferred to other essential work. Each case was considered on its merits before a transfer was granted.
