Power Restrictions To Be Further Relaxed
The Horowhenua Electric Power Board could not relax the restrlctions to any great extent, said the managing-secretary, Mr. R. A. Fre'derikson, this morning. If It was to do so then the board would find itself in trouble at the end of June. The position however would be closely watched and if increases could be made later, the hours for water heaters would be further raised. Mr. Frederikson was commenting on a statement hy the Minister 111 charge of the State Hydro -Electric Department, Mr. Semple, that the , restoration of the final 5 per cent cut in power allocations would be made as from Monday next. I "Meanwhile, continued Mr. Frederikson, it could be found possible ' to eliminate the morning power cut and increase the hours of water heaters to 10 hours daily. The only cut now in force during week days would be from 7 p.m. to 7il5 ;p.m. Explaining the position, Mr. ; Frederikson said that the increase in alloeation granted for next week swas only 1500 units, which was no:, imuch to come and go on. The | board's alloeation for this week was 561,000 units. For the last week in June the a'il-ocation was to be 567,500 units. For the same period last year the : figures showed that the board's (load had increased by 72,800 units, |so it could be seen that the small increase in alloeation- did not warjrant any great relaxation. The weekend power cuts will be ,as follows: — Saturday: 1 p.m. to 2.30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 7.15 p.m. Sunday: 1 pjn. to 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. to midnight.
