Maori Rugby Team To Visit Fiji

WELLINGTON, May 1 v. The New Zealand Maori Rugby team will leave Auckland 011 July lll by the Matua for Fiji and return by air on or ilbout August D. It will eonsist of 19 players, and two managers. These arrungeinents were coniirnied at todav's ineeting of the New Zealand Rugby Cni.011 executive, following a report on transport by the secretary, Mr. A. L. Neilson. It is expected that the team will plav five games. There was 110 possibiiitv of the tour being extended to Samoa. O11 its return the team will plav Auckland. The Fijian Lnion is to be asked if il vvould be able to serul a team to plav games in Auckland at the end of the season, in late .septeiuber and in October Before taking further acton regarding the amending of the constitution of the New Zealand 1 niou, it was decided to ascertain the attitude ot South Africa and Australia 011 a proposal for the establishinent of a new International Board. Members agreed it vvould not be practicable to amend the constitution till a new International Board was either established ot rejected. Following an application from the Ashburton T nion for an increase in the grant for school football, it was decided to refer the matter to the Council of the N.Z.R.P. with a reeonimeiulation that 110 variation be made in the grants whi.cli had already been subject oi c?ose investigation.
