Pink And Blue Frocking At Shannon Wedding

In the Metliodist Church, Shanlon, on Saturday, April 10, Joyce Ross, second daughter of Mrs. K. rhornson, Buckley, and the late Mr Alexander Ross Thomson, and Alfred Albert (Roy), eldest son. of Mr.. aiid. Mrs. A. M. Lochead, Palmerston North, were joined /in the bonds of matrimony by Rev.. T. Doatsworth, of Palmerston -North, formerly of the Foxton-Shannon circuit. Carried out by Mesdames W. Roberts, E. Thorne and C. Ward, ' the church decorations of several vases of pink cosmos, dahlias, and blue hydrangeas and pink and blue posies of lycopodium, fastened on the end of each pew, blended "beautifully with the pale blue interior of the church. Mrs. r R. Lind played the appropriate mus'ic and Mr. W. H. Roberts was usher. Escorted by her uncle, Mr. William Thomson,, of Otaki, the bride was a picture of girlish grace as she came out of the afternoon sun and entered. the church, which was crowded with guests. Her gown was made of white sheer, cut prihcess style, with a scalloped yoke of lieedlerun. lace outlined with silver beads. Needlerun lace? pointed to the wrists, was inset in the fitting sleeves. Over the long train f ell her veil of embroidered ' silk net, which was held to the head by a coronet of tiny miniature arum lilies. A single string of pearls and pearl earings were worn, and to complete her graceful ensemble she carried a trailer bouquet of white gladioli, and abutilons with pink carnations and blue dephiniums giving a touch of colour. The two bridesmaids, Miss Peggy Thomson (sister of the bride) and Miss Mary Howarth (Palmerston North) , were dressed ahke in frocks of blue tinsel ninon made with plain, low-waisted bodices, featuring heart-shaped necklines and puffed sleeves. The skirts were fully gathered and Of ground length. Their shoulder-length embroidered blue veils were held in place with coronets made of blue net leaves.; Long' blue lace mittens and "single strings of pearls (the latter the gift of the- bridegroom) were worn. Their bouquets of pink dalilias, carnations, abutilons and blue delphiniums were tied with blue ribbons and, like the bride's, had two slender trailers. Margaret Mills was a dainty fiower girl dressed in a full ground length frock of pink tinsel ninon made with puffed sleeves. She wore mittens, a coronet of pink roses 'in her hair, the bridegroom's gift of a ibracelet and carried a posy of pink and blue flowers. • . . Mr. Gordon Lochead, of Palmerston. North, a brother of the bridegroom, was bestman and Mr. H. Wolfsbaeur, Palmerston North, was groomsman. While the register was being signed Mr. R. R. Lind sang "My Task." On leaving. the church the bride was presented with a satin horse shoe, decorated with white flowers, by her youngest sister, Alexia.At the Druids' Hall Mrs. Thomson received over 130 guests, who offered felicitations to the newlywedded couple. She wore a midnight blue silk marocain . frock, black coat, a spray of pink abutilons and black accessories. The bridegroom's mother assisted, and for the occasion wore a wine frock and hat, black coat with a spray of wine abutilons and black accesories. Rev. T. ' Festivities were cohtinued in the evening, when a dance was held for the young friends of the bridal couple. Mr. and Mrs. Lochead were present for a short time before leaving on their honeymoon. ' Mrs. Lochead was wearing a light weight teal costume, with nigger brown accessories, and she carried an off white coat.. Relatives of the bride present at the wiedding were: Mrs. E." Sutherland (grandmother) and Mrs. N. Davey and family (Wanganui), Mr. and Mrs. W. Thomson, Miss Thomson and Mr. and Mrs. H. Tilbury (Otaki), Mr. and Mrs. C. C. .Thomson (Ashhurst), Mr. and Mrs. A. Webster and family and Miss E. Sutherland (Wellington), Mr. and Mrs. P. Heggie (Palmerston North) , Mr, and Mrs. N. Eccleston (Foxton) and Mrs. E, Tredenneck and Mr. W. Tredenneck (Christchurch). Prior to the wedding the residents of Buckley arranged a kitchen gift evening, which was attended by some.50 people. The future home of Mr. and Mrs. Lochead will be Palmerston North.
