■■ ■ ■ 1 w Stronger Tone For Store Sheep Held in rather wintry temperature.s yesterday the Feilding live stock sale attracted moderate entries and be tween 4000 and 5000 store sheep experienced a stronger tone particularly for good quality lambs. The growth of grass has enlivened interest in thia class of -stock and brought more coiupetition. Fat sheep sold at late rates with the quality unchanged compared with • iast weck's offering. -There was iittlc business done in the station cattlo department and dairy eattie excepting weaner heifers wero hardly xepresented. Fat Sheep Values for fat sheep were in iine with last week's realisations as there wub little general iniproyement in tlie overall quality aud several lines wero passed iu. Store Sheep There was slightly stronger competilion for *the mixed yarding of store sheep, the improving feed imsition for sheep eiicouraging operators to come ou the market. Store and fattening lambs oecupied most of the pens and several good quality lines were oltered. Mated ewes also sold well where the quality was apparent but a nuiuber of lines were passed iu. N. J. Northcott at 38s, 138 m.a. at T3s 8d. Station Cattle A light yarding of station eattie provoked some slight. inquiry but the market laeked enthusiasm and not al! were disposed of. A pen of 39 2A-yr A.A. steers sold iu two lots at £8 12s 0d and £8 10s. Better grown 20-mtlis Hereford steers numbcr'ing 17 chauged hands al £8 10s, and like aged Ilcreford heil'ors realised £6 17s Od. A pen of'i 30 empty A.A. heifers sold at £5 17s 6d tind 13 20-mths A.A. steers made £6 10s. .. ' Dairy Cattle The dairy cattle section as far asmaturo animals were concerned had little to offer, one reaily good qualits cow clittnging hands at £13. Weaner heifers, on the otlier hand, were fairly well represented and sold at the following prices: — 27s Od, 35s, £2, £2 14s, £3 14s, £3 17s, £4, £4 5s, £4 12s 0d, £5 5s, £5 10s, £6. £6 3s and £6 5s.
