MR. TRUMAN'S HOPES FOR PEACE NOT INCREASED

WASHINGTON, May 13. Presfdent Truman told a Press conference today that his hopes for eventual peace have not been inereased by the recent exchange of notes with Russia. Mr. Truman said that he was supporting to the limit the statement of Secretary of State (Mr George C. Marshall), that what is needed is action rather than general talks. He added that Mr Marshall had thoroughly covered the situation as left by the exchange of notes between Russia and the United States. Mr. Truman repeated what he had saitl often before — he would be glad to meet with Stalin in Washington.
