A.T.C. Camp Representmg the school unit of the A.T.C. at the ~ organisation's annuai camp in Palmerston North this week, are G. Lankshear, F. Frederikscn, J. Hannan, R. Edmonds and J. Harrison, of Horowhenua Coliege. Members of the A.T.C. from many parts of New Zealand are attending the camp. 'j Taxi Driver Who Refused Fare I Imposing a fine of £3 on a taxi , driver for failing to accept a fare ' for hire, the Magistrate, Mr. J. Complainant and his wife j had twice been turned down by | taxi drivers a few minutes before ! midnight, the drivers' excuses being | that they were going in a difler- j ent" direction. The drivers hadj accepted other fares. "The con- ! viction should act as a warning to other taxi drivers," said Mr. Hanna. "They must know that such an attitude will not be tolerated." Royal Contacts To have had several of his ! stamps accepted by Royalty is the i distinction enjoyed by Mr/ R. P. H. j Jensen, a young Wellington, philatelist. Mr. Jensen, who is ; presiaent of the Y.M.C.A. Philatelic | Society, has made interesting contacts with prominent stamp collee- | tors the world over. Mr. Jensen's | stamps have been accepted by j three ruling British monarchs— i the late King George V, King J Edward VIII, and King George VI. Distinguished people who have written to him include PrinCess Elizabeth, the late Sir E. Deeming Bacon, curator of the King's stamps, -the Kings of Denmark and Afghanistan, Viscount Galway, the Maharajah of Mysore, the Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, Lord vNuffleId and Lawrence Tibbett. Arrangements are in train for Mr. Jensen to be granted a personal interview with His Majesty when the King and Queen visit New Zealand next ye-ar. There will be nb basketball games in the Horowhenua championship series tomorrow. Games will recommence on Saturday next.
