Form Notes For Otaki
If started in the steeplechase on Saturday High Morale will give a good account of himself. Although tiring in the closing stages of the Mangarawa Steeplechase at Woodville last Saturday, this week's race is a quarter of a mile shorter which should prove an advantage. Now trained by A. D. Webster, it is likely that' the Bulandshar gelding should do credit to his new trainer this season. The outsider Vernon, who filled second place in the steeplechase at WoodVillfe last week, will not be at such good odds at Otaki. He was well back during the ' early running but was finishing faster than anything else. Gran'd Central, who ran unplaced in the Waikato Hurdies last Saturday, is to at.tempt the big jumps at Otaki and although he is inexperienced to this branch of the sport he is a good jumper and shoul'd do well. The Broiefort gelding Garry is in good form at present and if start-
ed in the Pukehou Hack Handicap should carry a good deal of support. His second to Trafaigar Day at Woodville was a solid performance. The furlong iess will no doubt suit him admirably. Currency Lass, who has been doing splendid track work, went out second favourite at Woodville, but failed to show promise. On a soft track, however, she should soon collect a prize. Unlucky to meet such a good horse as Barrage, Emerge should be out to rnake amends in the Te Timi Kara Handicap on Saturday. The soft going should not trouble him and on form Emerge -should win this event. For an outsider, Sparkling Lady must be given a chance as she has
previously shown form on this track and is a real mudlark. If taken to the front early, Sparkling Lady should prove a good proposition for her iollowers. Loyal Bian, who ran Guiidchase to a length at Hawera last Saturday, should be one worth eomidering. Ai home on a soft track, Loyal Bian appears to be just rcachmg form and is a capable galloper at hi.s best. Deprive hoid , a mortgage on the Taipua Hanaicap and as he is trained on this track should justify his claiin. In his last six starts he has ncver been further back than i'ourth aird a win is overdue. Ladysliip is on the verga of winning form and her good attempt over 1} miles at Woodville was a -spkndid flrovt. Although she has difficulty in repeaiing her wins, Ladyship has previously won on this track. Sun nine Bay has been running eon istent'y lately and should be in -dcmr-nd for the fmal event. A. Jenkins has the son of Foxlight in good order at prcscnt. Garry 8.9 was omitted from the Pukehou Handicap in the accept- ; ances which appeared in yester- i clay's issue.
