Marching Association's Winter Activities
Last Saturday night the Horowhenua Marching Association held one of its popular functlons in the [Weraroa Hall. There was a jolly ,crowd present and dancing coni tinued until 11.45 p.m. Tne occasiQh marked the first appearance of the "Swing Promoters" dance band which comprises all jyoung local musicians, who, with the benefit of a few more public. | perf ormance^ will gain confidence and provide a first class combination. Mr. Collier proved a popular and efficient M.C. The next Marching Association dance will be held P/? Msy 29 when the Horowhenua waltzmg championship will be decided, the winning qouple being awarded silver cups, donated *- by Murphy Motors, Foxton anl the'De Luxe Tea Rooms, Levin. A special orchestra has been engaged to supply tpe niusic, as apart from the waltzing championfhip a demonstratjon of the modern wait? and tango will be- given by pupils of Miss Irene Oliver, Paimcrston North. On Saturday night the Kotahitangi marching team are holdin« dance .in the Hegent Half when ltems will be given by members of the Mapri partv On Friday, May 38, tfie Bandcliers team, Otaki, will hold a dance m the Raukawa Hall. These functions are held to provide an interest for the girls and egmmitteo aunng tho recess from their sport.
