Guildchase Wins Double At Egmont

Rumba's win dividend of nearly two centuries, Royal Scholar's win in the Adamson Steeplfechase — the first in his career — a dead-heat between Bramerton and Kia Ora Katoa in the open sprint, and successful douhles for Gildchase, Baffles Rex and the Awapuni-trained Gay Stitches: -thfese provided the features of Saturday 's racing at Hawera for the concluding • day of the Egmont Racing Cluh's winter meeting. Weather conditions were perfect, with bright sunshine and an absence of wind, and the track was in excellent order. The attendance was better than on the opening day, and the totalisator turnover was £50,155, as against £50,211 last year, making the total for the meeting £98,001, a deerease of £2701 10s, compared with £100,705 10s in 1917. Probably the largest dividend hoisted at the Hawera course, in recent years at any rate, accompanied the win of. itumba in the fourth race, the Waihi frial Handicap, on Saturday afternOon. Ruinba is a two-year-old colt by Probation from Waidance and is raced by the Hawera trainer, G. W. Moore, who was also represented by the runner-up, Curtana, carrying Mr. C. B. Chapman's colours. Investinents on JRumba were £13 10s (win) and £35 Qilaee), and his supporters received nearly two centuries for a win, with more than a quarter of a century for a place. Itumba was ridden by C. Markwick aud was liaviug his sixth race. Six years ago, iu Eebruary, 1912, Golden Acre, also irained by G. W. Moore, won a race at Hawera and' returned a dividend of just over a century.
