Woodville Jockey Club Has Most Successful Winter Meeting • With brilliant weather, a perfect eourse, and a reeord atteinhance, tlie Woodville District Joekey Club 's winter meeting was one bfi the best ever held by the Club. ! The.~fields. were . big right tlirough, no less than forty-nine horses going to the post for the Novice Plate, and eighteen for the Steepleehase, the feat-ure of whieh was the magnificent jnmping. Pimlico made a fast run from the half -mile and onee over tlie last fence he went on to win tlie liurdles decisively from Rockanui, First Act and Specialist. Jumping splendidly, Specialist led for a great part of the journey. Otamaire f'ell at tlie second fence and Land Fall went down over him. Six furlongs from Irpnie First Aet was with Specialist arid it was as they were laeing to the last hurdle that Pimlico, Genero and Rockanui moved up to be in close attendance. Pimlico had the race won a, furlong from home but there was a great . contest for second, Rockanui iinishing vvell to beat First Act by a neck and Specialist was only a neck away fourth. Full of Fun led into the straight and Piayboy had moved up into second place ahead of Generai Victory and Sea Fury. Piayboy soon took charge and onee he hit the front the issue was not in doubt. He won by two lengths from Generai Victory a length in front of the fast-finishing Sea Fury. Gay Corrie was fourth just in front of Full of Fun. Argumentative was slow to leave. the niark. Easy for Trafalgar Day . Trafalgar Day won the second Mangapapa Handicap as he liked by four lengths from Garry wliich had made the pace to the straight, and Lady Alinter was a neck away third. The order to the straight was Garry, Trafalgar Day, Currency Lass, Lady Minter, Lady Oratory, Homespun, Grand Affair and The Itip. .
