Today .it w.as arranged to station a Navv signals de- > tachment in its Consultate in Jerusalem and the move is interpreted in official circles at Washington as ineaning that United States agencies must now_ be prepared fo'r the possibility that United Nations will have., failed to achieve orderly eonditions in Jerusalem when the British leave. Aleanwhile no candidate has been chosen for the special Alunicipal Commissioner of Jerusalem. Britain has drawn up a short list but it still has to be submitted- to the Jews and Arabs. One American candidate has asked to be withdrawn from the list because he suffered fro.m high blood pressure.
