(SPECIAL — FROM

• WELLINGTON, lYiay Main interesx tomorrow will centre in the two jumping events on the opening day's card for the Waikato Racing Club's winter fixture. These events areregarded as good guides for the Great Northern Hurdles and Steeplechase, which are to be held at Ellerslie on .June 5 and 7. Other meetings set down for tomorrow are the concluding days of the Egmont and Ashburton •■fixtures and the snigle day of the Woodville meeting.

The Waikato Hurdles has drawn some of the best hurdlers in the j North Island including those good: northern jumpers Hunting Mac, , Foxstar, Brookby Song, Good ' Amour, Ernadd, Diamond King and j Hippodrome. A visitor from down bhis way is the Otaki trained Grand j Central, who is reported to be in! excellent order for the northern trip. Hunting Mac has had a great deal of preparation on the flat, having competed in several events roun'd the country meetings. He gave a bright display over the hurdles the other morning at Te Rapa, and is now likely to be one of the favourites. Hippodrome's recent winning performance wiil be remembered by northerners, vvhile Foxstar and Diamond King are well forward to give a good display. If a surprise is in store a likely lightweight is Grand Central. Best form in the Hamilton Steeplechase is held by Bright Fox and Red Glare, and this pair will dispute favouritism'. It is not a strorig field and if the aforementioned two norses jump in their best style they should have the race to themselves. Of the others best prospects are held by Town Survey, and Surpeen. It. is a poor field set down to contest the Adamson Steeplechase at Egmont, and uniess something unforeseen happens Poiitical Boy and Kilmanagh should share the main end of tne stake. If the conditions are bad at Egmont Dunbar and Silver Pal will come mio demand for the DavrJson Handicap, but if the going iemains firm Atomic wili have a say in. the final issue. Other prospects are Mercian iLad, Loyal Bian and Giidchase. The Woodville meeting 1 has drawn large fields and if conditions are good overhead the club should have an excellent meeting. The chief jumping event is the Mangarawa Steeples in which High Morale will be a warm favona te. Welcome Guest will have an opporcunity to make amends in the May Handicap, while in the open sprint, the - Telegraph Handicap, if forward enough, Playboy should perform well on his home track. Frospects for the four meetings are:
