The World Federation of Trades Union's executive unaniinously approved a compromise resolution whicli the Oommunist viee-president, Guisejipe di Yittorio, said, ai'tei the meeting, "dispelled fears that Konie would be the tomb of a world labour union. The resolution, whicli was designed to solve fundaniental policy dill'erences between the Kussian and nou-Oomiiiuii-ist delegation, ineluded stipulations. iirstly, that W.F.T.U. publications would not be used to attack the jiolicies of national federations; secondly, that the " Big Four" inner council fornied on May 4, would vote on all niatters liehl "likelv to be eontrary to the interests of any national centre. " The compromise resolution provided also that top W.F.T.F. officials liold no otlier job without the executive bureau's consent. Reeretary-General Saillav stated that he had alreadv tendered his resignation from the executive c'onimittee of the Freneh Confederation of Labour.
