Received Friday, 10.40 a.nu LONDON, May 6. A breakdown threatens the foreign ministers^ deputies conference, which. is altempting to evolve a treaty of independence for Austria, says Reuter's diplomatic correspondent.

The British, American and ' French delegates maintain that Austria's 1938 frontiers should remain, but Russia insists that to meet Yugoslavia's claims to parts of Corinthia and Syria, there must be a frontier rectification. The British delegate said he would consult his Government and ascertain if there was any «use in continuing the discussions. The American delegate who is the next chairman, said he would not call a meeting until the British delegate reported the result of his conversation with his' Government.
