ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

After a brigf discussiou, dur'tng the course of which Mr. jolly withdrew his amendment, Mr. Oliver 's mption was unanimously defeated. As Mr. J. A. FinJayson (North Auckland ) was a jiominec for the vice-prosi-dency he was iueligible to stand for the conncil. 'L'he remaining three North Island nominees were accordingly deelared elected. A question to which no answer was ratc on loans was raised Mr. Dean said he had 110 doubt that the council would agree to the rate being stabjjised at 24 per cent., tho figure to which it was reduced in 1936. The matter was rel'errbd to the incoming council with a recommendation that the rate sliouid be 2A per cent. until further noticc. A question to which no ansyer was r given was asked by Mr. N. A. McKenzie (Hawke's Bay). He wanted to know whether there were unions who had not repaid their loans but .had lent
at 4 per cent. money ^on which they were paying 2J'per- cent .. . .. Potted Goal Pofrits. The annual meeting of • the N ew Zealand Rugby Union- varied the decision previously reaehed by the council, making the application of the new rule reducing a potted goal from foiir to .three points as from the beginning of the season. Several unions complamed that the cifcular sent out was ambiguous, giving the impression - that this rule was to operate as- from -May 29 when the other new riile's w,ere to come into force. It was agreed to ailow all unions who had if^t (yet applied this jule, to do so as -from; May 29.
