Fourth Big Lottery Win For New Zealand
I ' CHRISTCHURCH, May 3. First prize of £10,000 in an overseas lottery has apparently been won by Professor A. II. Tocker, Director of Canterbury University College and Professor of Econoinics. The winning ticlcet was purchosed under the pseudonyn of ' ' Long Sliot. ' ' When Professor Tocker was asked this evening if lie could confirm a rcport that he was the purchaser of the winning tickct, lie was non-coiuiiiittal. but said finally that' he did not know and had no offieial inforination. Asked jf he liad purchased a ticket under the p'seudonym of " Long Sliot," lie said that he had no corunient. The ticket \vas purchased froin a city tobacconist, Mr. R. Il. Davis, of 150 Oxford Terrace. For half an hour today, the trottirig vv'riter of The •PresK b'elieved that h.e held tlie winning ticket." He liad purchased the ticket under the same ps'eudonyni but found, when he returned lianie, that his did not bear thbcorrect number.
