Ohau Badminton Club Opens Its Season
The official openlng of the Ohau " Badminton Club's season took" place on Saturday night, when a large number of members were presept and also visitors from peighbouring clubs. - Judging by thp stqndard of pffiy witnessed, there should be some keen matches this year. The presi-dent of the club, Mi\.J. Bowling, welcomed the visitors and also the club's patron, Mr, W. Neas, Who was one of the rbundatlon" members of the club arid who is again residing in the district. In reply, Mr. Ne'as said there was something aboiit the Ohau Club which made its activities particularly pleasant and sooiable. He attributed it to the fact that a large number of its foundation meffibers were still t'akihg a keen interest in the sport. In this connection he mentioned Mr. and Mrs. J. Guerin, Mrs. H. Murray and Mrs. F. Fanning. The latter had been the cliib's secretary for eight years, and he hoped that the new secretary, Mr. W. Mudge, Jurir., • would continue in office for a similar perib'd and with the same cuccess. Mrs. Guerin theri played the first shuttle over the riet' and the courts were declared officially opei} for play.
