Meat Production At New Record Level
WELLINGTON, April 29. Export meat production figures to date this year were well in excess of comparable ligures for last season, said Mr. G. H. Grigg, chairman of the New Zealand Meat Produeers' Bbard, today. It was expecfe'd that alE- previousreeords would be eclipsed. This was tahgible evidence of the desire of New Zeland's meat produeers to do everything in their power to help,, alleviate the food shortages in Britain. Since the 1938-39 season, the production of meat for export had increaseu by more than 22 per cent., culniinatmg in a record production last season of about" 365, 000 tpns (bone-i-n weight), f Mr. Grigg, accompanied by Mr. Jf. Evans, gene-ral-manager of the Board, will leave for .England in the Durango to-morrqw to take part in discussionS with .the United Kingdom Ministry oL Food on prices.and an adjustment ot the terms for 'the present bulk purehase contracts which terniinate on September-,30, 1950. The possible extensions of the contracts apd terms bevond 1950 will also he considered.
