"The increase in the maintenance requirements this year is to a iarge' extent offset by a drop in the estimafed capital. reqnire- . ments, this being £46,782 ls ld this year as against £63,267 2s 7d last year," stated the managing-secretary (Mr. fA. J. Phjllipps). "The valuation figures disclose that there are no substantial alterations in the valuations for any of the local authorities this year'. . The greatest variation is in the Levin borough where the valuation has increased by over £100,000 on a previous valuation of £1,300,000, and consequently Levin 's share of the levy is some £200- more than last year. " Fqllowing discussion of the estimates in committee the board decided . . ."That the estimates as submitted be adopted and that the levy be Maintenance £53,237 12s 2d and Capital £13,552 10s and that the levy be payable in four quarterly instalments in the months of May, July, October, 1948, and January, 1949."
