Young Farmers' Activities
The usual monthly meeting of the , Levin Young Farmers' Club jwas in the Oddfellows' Hall I recently, when a good attendance of members was presided "Over by the. chairman, M'r. IX Kilsby. Apologies were received from Messrs.. Spiers, Carl, Denton and Blackburn. '* j _ It was dseided to enter .a team in the New Zealand national stoekjju'dging championships, which will i be held at Massey College- Palmers- , ton North, early fn May. At the conclusion of business, members of the Levin Jersey Cattle Breeders* Club joined the meeting to see films shown by the secretary of the New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders' Association, Mr. G, Dawick. The films ,were taken at agricultural and pastoral shows during 1946 and 1947.. Members Visit Kapiti A party of members from the club recently visited Kapiti Island, Being f avoured by a bright sunny day, they • ha'd a most enjbyable time. The party landed at Rangatira by launeh and were fortunate in having Mr. Wilkinson, an ex~ caretaker of the island, included .amongst It. Climbing through the bush-clad ridges, they reached the summit at a height of 2000 fee' and had a view of the mainlan'd ahd the northern portions of thq South Island. Members had ap interesting trip, gaining much knowledge of the bird life and history of the fsland.
