The orthodox birth- notice is boring, a Chicago newspaper considers. Here are some examples of its new literary style. "Definite winners in the obstetrical sweepstakes," states one announcement, "wer.e Mr. and Mrs. f . They presented their | lucky ticket at Illinois Masonic .Hospital and. were paid off in a 1 treasure of a gal." I The preface to another chatty | paragraph says . that for 13 years jthe stork had snubbed Mr. and 1 Mrs. , but at last the j "progenv purveyor" has relented. "It's definitely love in' bloom for Mr. and Mrs. Edv/ard Blum as they j contemplate the new twig on the j family tree. He burgeoned forth on (•September 1," states a horticultural I effort. .. . "Winging back'again after a trip , three years ago, the stork broughl l . . . " states another announcel mcnt under "Stork Club."
