Levin Golfers Play Popular Annual Match
On Saturday last in glo'riou.s weather the Levin Golf Club's annual match between teams oelected by the captain and secretary took , plaee at Cheslyn Rise iinks. Some 4u, players took part and some very good golf was seen. The captain's team proved too strong and were the victors by 19 games to eight, with one halved. Detailed results were as follows, the members of the captain's team being mentioned first in each case: — Singles : H. W. S. Walker beat L. J. Travers, L. Carmichael lost to T. Ecclesneld, H. D. During • the weekend the first ! challenge match for the "Top Dogs" was played. As these games : invariably produce both interesting and keenly contested struggles, it is ' boped that this match proves to be : fche forerunner of many more sueh 1 games. Last year's hol-ders, ,S. : Atkins and C. King, were able after 31 1 hard struggle to hold off a'very fetermined challenge by S., Fr.ank- ! in and B. Eager. fchey have probably held their title for quite long enough, and members are exhorted to challenge them and if possible put them on the losing Nside.
