WANGANUI, April 19. Rain has been falling fairly heavily in showers cf lon^ duration since midnight on Bunday and has alleviated the drought conditions in the Wanganui, Taihape and Rangitikei districts. It has been an exceptionally dry season throughout most of those areas, in some o$ them tthe dxiest .. withirt liyyig pieniory. Cattle have fared badly and farmers, asked today what they thought of the present position, said the rain hau come too late to be of much value to the cattle breeder who was contemplating a hard winter. Today 's rain h«is fallen mainlv along the coastal belt bnt there have been some falls inland.
