All who attende'u the fixture reported an excellent day's outing, but many expressed disappointment at not being on the big "divvy." R.S.A. Membership Speaking at the recent annual meeting of the Shannon branch of the Returned. Services' Association, the secretary (Mr-. E. J. Gunning) advised members that the. roll .of the branch stood at 239 members; 142 of these are second war members. The Tokomaru-' sub-branch have a membership of 48. Nine members of the Shannon branch are unfinancial at the emi of. the financial year. Harvest Thanksgiving The annual harvest thanksgiving service at the Church of England was conducted by Rev. M. J. S. Wheeler. Special decorations formed a background for the gifts of fruit and vegetables, which as usual will be Sent to All Saints' Children's Home at Palmerston North, and the packages and tins of foodstuffs to England. The large congregation inclu'ded many children, who listened intently to the address, which made clear the meaning of harvest festival and described the way it had been kept in rural England from -earliest times.
