Police Send Comrade For Braund Cure
AUCKLAND, April 16. ■ Members of the Police Force throughout New Zealand have raised £500 to enablc a colleagiie, Temporary Constable G. E. Jones, of Auckland, to ge to Sydney to receiye treatment for cancer froin Mr. J. Braund. Constable Jones, who was transferred recently from Christchurch, .left Auckland oii Sunday with his wife. The money subseribed will be nsed to defray the expenses involved in the yisit to Australia. Impressed by Mr. Braund 's claims of success in curing cancer, a group of Auckland policemen' decided last month to make an effort to send Constable Jones to Sydney. The Commissioder of Police sanetioned the proposal, and, by means of cireulars, a Dominion-wide appeal was sponsored by the Police Assoeiation. There was an immediate response to the appeal. To avoid. any delay in Constable Jones 's departure for Sydney, an Auckland eitizen told the assoeiation that he was prepared •to'advance £350 immediately. The offer was gratefully accepted, and arrangements were made for Mr. and Mrs. JorL.es to leave on Sunday.
