i The monthly sitting of the I Magistrate's Court in Otaki took place on Thursday before Mr. A. M. Goulding,. S.M. . . | Albert Thomas Rosie was charged l with having no warrant of fitness jand was fined 10s, with 10s costs. .Arthur Allen Ryder. for 'failing to ! signal when making a turn, was fined 10s, with 12s costs. Mr. B. H. Rhodes, who appeared for •defendanl, said that his client had I taken every precaution and, seeing ; no traffic when he lookcd round, ' turned his car, with the result that a slight collision occurred with Hosie's vehicle. , George Renwick, for driving in a ' dangerous manner, paid a penalty of £4, with 12s costst Inspector 'Davis stated that he followed the car, which was travelling at a dangerous speed, and which made a skid mark of 14 feet when stopped. He accelerated later and the car appeared to be' out o'f control. When questioned, defendant said that he I desired to show off the specd of his ■ car to five Maori passengers. I Ramete Ellison, for a similar offence, was find £4, with 12s costs. ' Inspector Davis stated that with six , others in the car, defendant's speed. was excessive. j George Judd, for having 'a : vehicle not properly equipped with Gights (two charges) was fined 10s 1 on each charge, with costs totaliin^ Cycling at night along Tasman; Road- without a light cost Edna Jacob £1, with 12s costs. George ! Goode, who ple'aded not guilty to a ' .similar offence, was fined £1, with1 ' 10s costs. Inspector Davis told the j j court that Goode was circling the j I road at night, and had been warn1 ed. Goode maintained that it was j not dark, the electric light having j ' just been put out. Whiteman were each i | fined £1, with 10s costsr for similar off ences. j Ovej'due Rent I Frank Jackson was ordered to pay Mrs. M. H. Cairns the sum of £42 7s 6d rent for a cot.t.'3 ^ f ■ Otaki Beach. Rent had been paid I for some time, but,a dispute arose land the rent stopped.
