Curtailment of Broadcasting Hours

AYELLINGTON, April 14. Comrnencing Alonday, April 19, all broadcasting stations will close down for three one-hour periods eaeh week day. At present the stations are off the air from 11.30 a.m. to 12 noon and 5.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. tTntil further notiee tlio stations will be closed down from 8J0 a.m. to 9 a.m., from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, and from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. On Alontlays to Fridavs inclusive ea'cli week. Tn announcing this today in a joini statement, the Alinister of Broadcasting (Air. Jones) and Alinister of Hydro electricity (Air. Semple) said it was the practice of the Government to close down. broadcasting stations for several iiours each day when power rationing was in force.
