Doug Harris Invited To Iceland
Received Wednesdar, 7 p.m. LONDON, April 14. D. AT. Ilarris, New Zealand Olympic runuer, has accepted the invit'ation of the Amateur Athletic Association to accompanv its team to Iceland at the end of Alay. The team, which includes Alacdonald Bailey, the well-known-coloured sprinter, and Donald Find lay, hurdler, will be raanaged by ALr. J. G. G. Crump, honorary secretarv of the A.A.A. ■and manager of the British Olvtnpic team. It will leave England by air on Alav 27 and return on .June 3. It will ta'ke part in two meetings at Reykjavilc. Harris recently passed through London en route from Cornwall wliere he spent a holidav, to Loughborough after a vacation from college. In London he diseussed his training schedule with Dr. Ar'thur Porritt, representative of the N.Z.A.A.A., . who approved it and agreed that Ilarris should not take part in more than six meetings before the Olympic Games. Dr. Porritt added that he was dis.-ussing the possibilitv of Jack Lovelock's trainer advising Harris who had not linally decided .on the meetings in which he will run prior to the Games, lie has received many invitations through the A.A.A. ineluding visits to Amsrerdam and Belfast.
