Tararuas Again Crossed By Women Trampers
That 'tramping is becoming very popular was again evidenced last weekend, when another party bf women members of the LevinWaiopehu Tramping Glub made a ci'Ossing from Levin to Eketahuna and back, The route travelled was that taken by a recent party, from the Mangahao daffi to Putara, in the Mangatainoka Valley, returning via 'BchOrmanri Traek. On this occasiori, after an enjoyable trip across in good Weather, the party was met at the Putara ROad by relatiVes of sOffie of the members, who conveyed them to their honie in Eketahuna, where a welcome ttieai and other comforts were provided. During the evening the visitors were entertained with a series bf clever conjuring tricks by Mr. G. A. Haiisen, of Kaiparoro, who highly amused ail until bedtiftie. Next day fOg and drizzly ^rain were ericouritered most of the'way, but this had little effeCt on the Well equipped party, which reached the dam at 5.10 p.m. At numerous intervais many stags were ciearly heard roaring from far and near, whiie during a boil-up on Mt. Ngapuketurua a large Stag sudderily made his appearance on the hori^on. unmoved on seeirig the trampers, he was observed to . advantage through binoCulUrs, which revealed a very flne head of mariy points.
