The Playboy Is Extinct
The playboy is extinct. So says one of Hollywood's most ravishing blondes, Adele Jergens. She says they are definitely a thing of the past. The dashing young dandy with a few millions to throw down the drain was beginning to pass out- of the 'national picture when war came, she said. Today the w-ell-known playboy of yesteryear is as scafce; as Sell-bottom trousers. The war putan end for all time to the cavorting of such young gentlemen, continued Adele. "Most of them discovered there -are all kinds of people in America and the oulside world. They don't particulaily feel that throwing rnoney around indiscriminately and flaunting It in front of .others is amusing," concluded Adele. She 'does not recall ever having met such playboys either while appearing on the New York stage or during her Hollywood sojourn. "It seems I was born too late for that era of spending. I'm certain I did not miss a thing." The new trend, she concluded. is toward men of action who have sOmething to offer to make life a bit easier for the people all, round them.
