Valuable Cup For Girls' Marching Contest
' The town .of Bulls, whiph was recently in the news with its "Food for Britain" drive when it sent . "Butter from Bulls" to the town of Cowes, in England, has , again i demonstrated the civic min'dedness - of its citizens, who have subscribed ' the necessary money to purchase a ' solid silver cup, valued at 100 ' guineas, for the girls' open marching contsst there on Saturday, April 17 next. When the contest was first mooted a group of residents underr took to raise the necessary money to purchase a cup valued at 20 guineas, but such was the response of citizens that it resulted in the necessary money being forthcoming to purchase a much more valuible trophy. Mr. OiSie Tong.'the prime mover in getting a cup of which the residents of Bulls and district, as well as the winning team, would be " proud, is an ex-resident of Levin, having received his education atthe local school, while the cup was purchased from Mr. H. F. Birley, of Levin. A total of 27 teams, representative of the lower portion of the North Island, will take part in the championship.
