WELLINGTON, AprU 9. : . T&e -storm on Wednesclay has greatly improved the tracks at ; Awapuni and Hutt Park and they snould be in excellent order to- ' moiToW for the conclusion of the respective meetings — the Manawatu R.C. autumn fixture and the "Wellington Trotting Club's meeting. After .the strong drying wind of yesterdav .the track at Hqtt' Park looked in tip top order when inspected thismorning. Other meetings to be held tomorrow are the concluding day of Bay qf Plenty and the opening days of Southland, Marlborough and Waimate.
The feature event at Awapuni will" be. ihe Awapuni Gold Cup in which King's Ransom is expected to fight out- the issue with Robins Reward. He is in the pink of condition, but in such goo'd form youngsters vas Royal Shar, A'ir , Belle, Vadoz, Blue Spec, Curtana : and Blue Seal, he is certainly going to have a hard race. The main open event, the Tamatete Handicap, looks like Dark Arrow, Atomic, Selas, Langue d'Or, Sun Burn and Theiolyn making a goo'd race of it. The improving Atomic might be the horse to upset the favourite. If reserved for the Longburn Handicap Cressida will be in strong demand, but is sure to find solid opposition from The Pagan, Shiraz, Zealander, Petre Mar, Baruch and Lady Christine. The last named is due to recch the winning list. There are several fresh horses engage'd at Hutt Park for the conclusion of the Wellington Trotting Club's meeting, but form on the first day should prove a reliable guide. Horses unlucky last week not to reach the raoney were Sandy Duvals, Palava, Red Arrow, Democrat and Play Boy. Palava and Lady Averill look like fighting out the main event. Prospects for all the abovementioned meetings are:
