Personal * The death occurre'd yesterday afternoon at his residence, Bell Street, of Mr. . William Cootes, # a v/ell-known resident of the district • for many years. The deceased, who was 74 years of age, was in his youth a well-known footballer and boxer having travelled to Australia to take part in several matches. Mr. Cootes, who had been in indifferent health for some time, leaves a widow and family to mourn their loss. The funeral of the late Mr. Stan. Moffatt took place yesterday. at Paraparaumu, when there was a large and representative attendance, including many Paraparaumu bowlers and several from Otaki and . the outlying districts. The popularity of the deceased, who was a general favourite, was shown by the lengthy cortege and the large number who attended the church service, conducte'd by the Rev. H. E. Endich, who delivered most impressive . addresses both at the church and graveside. The large number of floral tributes showed token of great respect. Mrs,.. Moffatt and relatives have been the recipients of many . sympathetic messages. School Buildings An agitation is on foot at Tasman Beach to have a public school erected at Otaki Beach, it being stated that many children have to travel backwards and forwards by bus each day to attend the Otaki State School. At Tuesda.v riight's meeting of the school committee it was mentioned that a movement was made to erect a school at Otaki Railway in 1896.
