MASTERTON, April 8. At sittings yesterday of - -the Magist-rate's Court at Grevtown and Carterton cases. the first of their kind in New Zealand, were brought against farmers for having lit fires on their properties at Carterton, Western Lake and Martinborough respeetively without having obtalnpd perrnission , from the Wairarapa Catchment Board, as provided bv the by-laws. y Convictions were recorded in all "ases and fines inflicted in two of them,
