Power Generator At Kaitawa Nearly Ready
GISBORNE, April 8. The first of two 16',000 kilowatt gen orators at the Kaitawa power station are undergoing load tests today with the prospect of being put in full operation within the next week or two. Officers of the Hydro Electric Department, Wellington, in a telephone interview, said the tests- were sati£factory so far, and the power generated during the tests was being run into the North Island power pool, the addition being" particularly welcome in. peak load periods. Subject to shipping conditions governing the delivery of the equipment to complete the second generator, the Kaitawa station, capable of producing 32,000 kilowatts should be in full operation in May.
