The flooring is the result of eight years' work by a ,team of four scientists at the firm's Freshford laboratories. It is mainly intended for. sale in the Far East, where in the past rubber flooring has been unpopular because of its unpleasant smell in hot weather. Development is planned to the extent of £100,000 yearly. The Board of Trade, which has granted the manufacturers a production licence, hopes that the flooring will bring in thousands of 'dollars from America and the Far East. It is not the firm's first excursion into the sublime. Just before the war a band of its research workers locked themselves in the firm's laboratory. They came up panting a few months later with their aiscovery — chocolate-tasting rubber balls for choosy puppies to chew on. What a flutter that caused in Mayfair !
