ihe New Zealand eorvettes, Arabis and Arbutus, are expected to Tave for Englan-d this month. They Will be exchanged for two of six frigates which are being acquired under the Dominion's new^ def ence oolicy— a policy regarded in naval •iroles as an endorsement of the "small ship" navy which has beenecommended to suit best New Zealand's needs. It is belteve'd that the corvettes will be sctapped in England after being paid ofi, and that their crews will commission the frigates and bring them back to New Zealand.
