Big Growth In Membership Of Heritage
WELLINGTON, April 6. "Tlie annual subscribers to the, work of " Heritage throughout the Dominion now total 4381, and there are 396 persons who have become life members by a payment of £10 10s," said the chairman of the exeeutive council, Dr. O. C. Mazengarb, K.C., at the annual conference today. "Tliis r-epresents an ■increase of 546 members. "During the year under review, the Otago branch increased its subscribing membership from 1105 to 1323 and the Wanganui branch from 242 to 386. "A large membership reflects the desire of people to 'do what they can, even in a modest way, to repay the debt which they owe to the children bereft by the war of a father's care. It also gives a wide coverage of people who, through the receipt of branch reports and other publicity matter, are able to the ways in whieh Heritage seeks to discharge its duty. "The exeeutive notes with pleasur,e the increasing interest which returned servicemen from the recent war are taking in Heritage, and their readiness to serve on its committees."
