Marching Team At Hutt
On '■ Saturday, last the Otaki "Bandoliers" marching team travelled to Petone to take part in the Hutt Valley marching championships, where 15 teams faced the , judges. The girls, under the efficient coaching of Mr. H. N. Fearnley, have now reached onen competition stahdard. Their uniforms have been greatly improved by the new gold beret type of hat. On completion of their competition march, the team received a splendid ovation from the crowd of several thousands who witnessed the display, the' commentator remarking that the performance was an outstanding one for a first entry, and much would be heard of "Bandoliers" in the future. Little Eileen Hazelwoo'd, the team's mascot, received a special award in the mascots' maren. The team paraded as follows: Doreen Bills (leader), Edna Taylor (marker) , N. Bertelsen, M. Cobb, S. Cootes, A. Lowe, P. Merwood, J. Taylor, N." Verrant, B. Wilkinson, L. Jones and E. Hazelwood (mascot) . t The chaperones were Mesdames Hunter and Bertelsen. The team ' will be competing again at Bulls on April 17.
