Levin Golf Club Opens Its New Season

| Under a cloudless sky, over 80 members and visitors of the Levin Golf Club teed off in the Canadlan foursome conducted at the opening of the season on the Cheslyh Rise links on Saturday. The president, Mr. R. A. Frederikson, exfendsd a hearty welcome to the visitors, and wished the players a happy season 'and a successful opening day. He then introduced the Mayor, Mr. H. B, Burdekin, welcoming him to the ceremony. Before. opening the season, Mr. Burdekin congratulated the club on the progress it had made on the links during the previous season. He remarked that 12 - monts -ago, when the club had decided to make the move to the new links, there had been a number of people who had not considered the move a wise one. It must, therefore,"haye been gratifying to the officials to find that the membership had grown so quickly. Apparently everyone had found the links satisiactory. He then wished the club every success in its future development of the course and declared the season open. The Canadian foursome, which was played over 14 holes, resulted in a win for Master Stern and Mrs. Porter, who returned a net - 40 card. This win is 'particqlaflyout"tgndina- in that Stern is" onl'y 13 years old. Runners-up were T Coutis and Mrs. Larsen with 44 net. Thsy led the field for a time and were unlucky not to have returned p better score.
