Fleetwood's Fast Run In Memorial
There was a thrilling finish to the King George Handicap at . Awapuni on Saturday and seven of the nine starters took part in it. Half a mile from home, with the pace cracked on, there would not be more than two lengths between the first and' -last horse. The first mile had heen run in 1.41 and Theiolyn and Morotai led into the straight closely attended by Dark Arrow, Dunbar, Robin's Reward, Langue d'Or and Yasda. The issue was well in doubt a furlong from home and Barrage, Dunbar, Langue d'Or, Robin's Reward, Theiolyn and Dark Arrow. were stretched across the cqurse. Then Barrage on the outer put in the brilliant run to win by a neck from Dunhar a neck ahead of Langue d'Or. Robin's Reward was fourth and he, Theiolyn and Dark Arrow were at half head interyals.
It was oue of the best races ever seen at Awapuni and, without detraeting from the merit of Barrage 's perforniancc, there were other starters whieh with a better run at the home tuni would have beeu very much harder to beat.
