Values For Wool Firm At Christchurch
CHRISTCHURCH, April 5. Although spectacular prices were not in evidence, values for all classes were firm at the third main Christchurch wool sale. The catalogue of 27,590 bales ineluded all types, but there was a comparatively small showing of super fine wools. The bulk of the offering was average to medium fine wools, and* its condition was not too good. The sale had apctioneers and growers guessing, becaUse overseas conditions were obscure and there had been an easing in rhe trend at North Island saies. The sale today was the first major half-bred sale since the market break occurred in February, and.it brought crossbreds baek by 25 per cent., allowing for quality. The prices for merino wools today were firm on the basis of the February sale at Timaru, and halforeds were firm on the second Christchurch sale values. What little" crossbred was ofi'ered sold at late Norch Isiand rates.
