Salmond stressed the vision, eourage, hard work and faith of the pioneefS Of Otago and the implicatiohs involv,ed in the building of a Christian comniunity in Levin today. The oecasi^n was the- church parade of the members of the Horowhejnua Pipe Band, and during the- serVice Mr. Saimondreferred to the gathering of pipe ban'ds at Dunedin recently. The week the Synod ended had ssen the arrival of these bands from all parts of the Dominion, said Mr. Salmond, and it was recjOgnised as fitting that the contest should commence with Wk open air church parade. On the oval were gathered 600 pipers from 29 bands, together With 7000 supporters and friends. The service was conducted by Rev. , H..S. Watson, M.C,, and the singtF ( was led by the Kaikorai Band. v .
