- WELLINGTON, Ajjni ». - Easter iioliday racing will conclude. tomorrpw with the third and final day of the C.J.C. fixture at Riccarton. At Awapuni the Manawtii autumn meetings will open and conclude on the following Saturday. Other meetings to be staged are the opening days of Bay of Plenty and Nelson, while at Hutt Park, Petone, the Wellington Trotting Club will conclude its 1948 season with the opening day of lts autumn meeting, which is to conclude on the following Saturday. Forni for all meetings has been well disclosed during the Easter period of racing and given fine weather past week's form might be fehable to follow in a number of cases.
The principal event on at Awapuni tomorroWi the King George Handieap, has not a strong field, and ridden a well-judged race Robin's Reward should hold the others safe. His most likely serious opposition shouM come from Dark Arrow and Yasda. The' other open racfe, the Adderstone Handieap, should develop into a duel between the top section of the weights and' on form Square Dink, if started here in prefereiice to the hack mile and a-quarter, shouM give Mesalliance a keen duel for the major end of the stake. Other likely prospects are Morotai and Prince Wanaka. After his comf ortable victory on the second day of the CiJ.C. fixture Spare Part will be in strong demand for the Sockburn Handieap at Riccarton tomorrow. It is not definite what Signal Officer's
mission will be but if started here in preference to' the 56th Challenge Stakes he will again', in spite of his solid weight, be in the issue at the. finish. However, if both the abovementioned horses f ail the likely ones to bring about their defeat are Desert Fox, who has had two solid races into him and should now be rea'dy to reach the winning list, and Indian Dawn. After' his brilliant win in the Easter Handieap False Step will- be at a short price in the Waltham Handieap, the open sprint at Riccarton. Desert GiiTs magnificent burst over the final furlong into second place to False Step will be remembered and although she has drawn 11 she should, nevertheless, make her presence again felt.
